The big celebration of Easter is ahead of us and if you never have celebrated Easter in Greece, we warmly recommend that you put it on your "to-do" list.
The atmospher, the food, the smells and sounds of the new spring that is on it's way and of course the celebration it self is a remarkable experience.
For us, Easter is Antiparos. The island is all of a sudden awake again after a long winter, the streets are filled with smiling people from Greece and abroad. -All with the same purpose of enjoying themselves on the island and the religious holyday.
Cafees and shops are open and the small streets are again being painted white. Eggs are being dyed red to symbolize life, victory and the blood of Jesus Christ and the most beautiful candlelights are being created for the big ceremony.
The midnight mass is a ceremony you should be part of even if you are not Greek Orthodox. Cause when the church bell rings at midnight and the holy light is being passed around for everyone to take part and light their candle, it is a moment that you will remember for a lifetime.
And when Easter Sunday comes, it comes with the sounds of people chatting, laughter, Greek music playing in the distance and the smell of BBQ and summer ahead.
A bit early, but we wish every one a happy Easter celebration when the days come. Easter Sunday is 16/04/17
